The Temple of Apollo Epicurean is located 48 km from Kyparissia, 1130 m above sea level. It was built in the 5th century BC by architect Iktin, who designed the famous Parthenon temple on the Acropolis in Athens. This “second Parthenon” is one of the most important and well-preserved temples of antiquity. It is dedicated to Apollo in gratitude to the liberation of the local population from the plague during the Peloponnesian War. This magnificent temple fits perfectly into the local landscape and is a natural extension of it. The beauty, integrity and amazing harmony of the sanctuary of Apollo Epicurean could take first place among all the ancient temples of the Peloponnese. In 1986, the temple was inscribed on the World Heritage List.
After visiting this grandiose temple, you will visit the fabulously beautiful "stone" village of Andricena, located 13 km from the sanctuary.
